This book is a treasure. Everyone should read it at the earliest age possible. It teaches you that you have a power to have anything you want in your life by being aware of your thoughts and directing them into right channels. Many times we don’t realise where we bring ourselves by growing the ocean of negative thoughts, while we are the ones responsible for what we think and where it brings us. It is a very inspiring book and you will feel powerful and uplifted after reading it, but remember that it is hard work to be an owner of your thoughts and you will need to work for a while to develop a custom of thinking positively.
An easy read but quite powerful. The title talks for itself but the book inspires. It will help you understand that everyone has fears but only those who sees and knows their fears but don’t let them take over the power climb the highest picks in their lives.
This book will change your perspective on your busy career and the place your family and loved ones take in your life. It is written as a story where the main protagonist is a woman who got absorbed by her passion towards her successful company and career and could never find time for her husband and 2 lovely kids. Sounds familiar? I will not unfold the story here, but will just tell that it is quite captivating although cheesy at times. The lessons you will learn from the book are very powerful and are meant to teach you how to balance your work and family life. It also teaches how to be an inspiring and kind leader for your kids to bring up confident and resourceful personalities in them. This book had a profound impact on me and taught me to place my family first because if something happens to you or your family who will be around you, who will you think of?
Picked this book because of its popularity and good reviews. Even though the storyline is rather poor, the messages in this book are quite powerful. The reason why I really liked it is because during the age of competition, high work pressure, and arrogance, this book teaches you to be an inspirational leader with human ethics and kind heart. And this book is not only about being a leader in your company but in your life in general. To be an example of a caring person with an inner will to perform at your highest potential.
5. Dark Side of the Light Chasers: Reclaiming Your Power, Creativity, Brilliance, and Dreams By Debbie Ford
This one was one of the first books that made me look deep inside of me to understand all my problems with low self-esteem, accept my flaws and see them as roots of my drive and motivation in life. It was truly a life-changing book for me.
It gives you exercises that will allow you to see your unconscious world and you will most probably cry from what you will discover deep inside of you. Once you face your dark side and bring it into light, you will start your journey to a more joyful and relaxed life.
I have found this book on Amazon when I was struggling to understand why all my relationships fail and feeling that I cling to men too much. I have picked the book up thanks to its good reviews, but I was hesitating to buy it as the cover (as you can see it here) looked like a cheap novel. But I have bought it, and…it changed my life. It’s one of the most deeply psychological books I have ever read. It forces you to look into the patterns of your behaviour and where they come from in a very powerful way. I remember how much I cried when I discovered things about me which I didn’t suspect were influencing my life in a negative way. This book is particularly relevant for people with the history of emotionally absent parents, drug addicts or alcoholics in family.
This book is a breath-taking novel with a very powerful ideological message that teaches you to be an individual with a strong belief in yourself and your ideas.
It will be most valuable for people with socialist past as it shows what a system can do to people by turning them into non-thinking herd without opinion, without individual dreams and will power to make your dreams come true. And about individualism which is not afraid of negative feedback of the herd and any other obstacles, individualism which succeeds thanks to believe into own potential and greatness. Truly inspiring!
8. Stealing the Corner Office: The Winning Career Strategies They will Never Teach You in Business School by Brendan Reid
If you work in a big corporation and failing to get ahead with promotion, this book is for you. It is one of the most brutally honest books about how promotions work in today’s world. It is a pity I have read it when I have decided to leave the world of large Corporations (I worked in MS and Google), but the strategies described in the book are exactly the reason why I left: You need to spend at least 40% of your time on visibility strategies and live by wolf rules living against your values at times.
You can read a good summary of this book in this article: How to Get Promoted: 10 Powerful Techniques. Although I would recommend to read the book fully as it provides a lot of real valuable examples you will learn loads from and perhaps see yourself in these examples.
Classics of all personal development books. In fact, it should be taught at schools that’s how crucial it is for your successful functioning as a social or business individual. If you are shy and become extremely timid when trying to socialise, this book will help you understand how to relax in conversation and actually enjoy it.
10. 50 Shades of Grey
Ha! A joke 🙂 Although it can change your life by traumatising your perception of sexual happiness.
